National Coalition Appoints Dr. Jessica A. Hausauer as New Executive Director
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 28, 2023—The National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care (NCHPC), which works to improve the care of people with serious or life-limiting illnesses by convening the field, advocating for equitable policies and improved health outcomes, establishing best practices, and sharing resources, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Hausauer, PhD, as its new executive director, effective October 2, 2023. Jessica brings a wealth of experience and expertise in creating strategic partnerships and leading regulatory and legislative advocacy.
Jessica, who received her PhD in sociology from Syracuse University, is a visionary leader with more than seven years of experience leading Minnesota Network of Hospice and Palliative Care, a non-profit membership association in Minnesota which serves 65 hospice and palliative care organizations, 15 allied organizations, and numerous business partners. During her tenure there, she established a diversity, equity, and inclusion plan for the organization; increased member benefits without increasing costs; and increased net assets by 147%.
“As the fields of hospice and palliative care continue to grow and evolve, the coalition can serve as a source of inspiration, connection, and collaboration for everyone working to provide the best serious illness and end-of-life care possible,” Jessica said. “We have an opportunity to come together around the same table to face challenges, identify solutions, and take action. I am so honored to lead the next chapter of the coalition’s work.”
“We are excited to welcome Jessica as our new executive director,” said Ginger Marshall, NCHPC board president. “Her appointment comes at a crucial juncture as the coalition continues to amplify the voice of hospice and palliative care with initiatives involving advocacy, payment, quality, and research. Her proven leadership and transformative approach will help us continue to grow and strengthen our organization. We have full confidence her leadership will enhance our ability to improve the care of patients and families living with serious illness.”
The entire NCHPC Board of Directors extends their heartfelt appreciation to outgoing Executive Director Amy Melnick, MPA, for her exceptional leadership and contributions to the organization’s growth and success over the past decade. NCHPC is grateful for her support to achieve a seamless leadership transition.
