The National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care would like to congratulate Dr. Betty Ferrell who was elected to become a member of the National Academy of Medicine. Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. Amy Melnick, Coalition Executive Director, praised Dr. Ferrell by adding “in addition to her many accolades, Dr. Ferrell served as co-chair for the development of the National Consensus Project’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care, 4th edition and in fact, her wisdom and leadership was instrumental in every single edition of the these influential guidelines.”
